Healthy Kid-Friendly Holiday Snacks

December 12, 2013

The Holidays don’t always lend themselves to healthy eating practices, but that doesn’t have to be the case this year!  We always encourage getting your kids involved with the food that they eat, so this holiday season why not spend some quality time in the kitchen making some of these kid-friendly – and most importantly, healthy! – holiday-themed snacks.

1. Banana Snowmen

How cute and fun are these banana snowmen?!  They’re easy for your kids to put together, and it is a sure-fire way to get them to eat their fruits!  For instructions, visit Spoonful.

2. Grinch Fruit Kabobs

Perfect to snack on while watching one of our holiday favourites, these “Grinch kabobs” are easily put together  with a grape, strawberry, slice of banana and a mini marshmallow.  For full instructions, check out Nourishing Minimalism.

3. Veggie Christmas Tree Platter

Have your kids help you put together this delicious Christmas tree veggie platter.  Chop up broccoli, cauliflower, and yellow bell peppers and put together with fresh cherry tomatoes, pretzels and your favourite healthy dip!

4. Frosty the Bagel

Kids will love this healthy lunch idea!  Check out Spoonful for instructions!

5. Olive Penguins

Ok, so we admit, these may need some serious creative talent in the kitchen, but they were just too cute to ignore!  Check out Once Upon a Plate for the how-to!
