Our budding student chefs from Champlain Heights have grown from artists to chefs – starting with their imagination! Students drew beautiful pictures of their ideal gardens during the first Growing Chefs! visit.
Weeks went by as their garden flourished.
Today, we had the opportunity to cook a couple of delicious dishes with our chefs! Students had the opportunity to chop, tear, and contribute to our dishes! Our chefs brought in a variety of fresh herbs for our soup and stir fry. Students had the chance to experience the different scents, textures, and tastes of the herbs!
Remember the CLAW! Students learned from our professional chefs how to chop with a knife properly.
It was a lot of fun harvesting and cooking with all the students who participated with Growing Chefs! At the end, everyone helped add ingredients to the wok as our chef prepared the stir fry. Best of all, Chef Shane brought in some organic brown rice to share with the students.
