The Growing Chefs! Going Local! Local Food Challenge is back!
And is only five days away! We’re challenging people to commit to eating local for 7 days, from August 14th-20th. Learn more about the campaign and consider signing up today!
Our goal, along with raising awareness about the wonderful bounty B.C. has to offer, is to raise money to help support the classroom gardening program. So far, we’re only at 40% of our goal of raising $4000. Please consider pledging one of our participants today. We have some amazing people signed up that are doing some inspiring things with the food in their back yards! Check out a few of them:
1. Merri Eats Local in the Great Bear Rainforest
Merri is going to try to eat within 100 miles of an isolated north coast lodge in the Great Bear Rainforest. Check out her campaign page to see the incredible list of foods she can eat, such as bull kelp, salmon berries, oolichan grease, and kytons! Help her reach her fundraising goal and consider pledging her today!
Half of Loucas’ food for the week is going to come from his deck garden! He’s even been harvesting his own salt in preparation. Check out his page to learn more. If you pledge him a gift of more than $100, he’ll cook you any Greek dish you desire! (Sorry folks–it’s only available to folks in the Victoria area.)
