Does your food have a mood?

May 27, 2011

One of everyone’s favourite Growing Chefs! activities is Foods with Moods in Lesson 4. The chefs read the students How are you Peeling? My Food has a Mood by Joost Elffers and Saxton Freymann. It’s a fun book that is illustrated with whimsical sculptures made from vegetables and black-eyed peas.

After reading the story, the chefs and students talk about how different foods make them feel. Then they make their own foods with moods.

While it is fun to play with our food, we do remind the kids that it is still food, and encourage them to take their foods with moods home to eat with their families. Some kids decided not to wait and had a post-recess snack.
